GENERAL FUNCTIONS

This role would be part of the 5 ML operations team, supporting process engineering in the injection molding process and post-molding operations. You will work closely with our engineering teams in the early phases of injection molding process development and equipment commissioning to drive the development of plastic injection molding at the company. You will also work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to develop robust solutions for issues with existing products and processes.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead or support process development of the injection molding process through parameter optimization, DOE (Design of Experiments), and trials that will lead to a robust process
  • Work closely with process engineering to highlight risks, concerns and identify areas of opportunity with current and new models with special attention on consistently producing quality parts
  • Manage and update all technical information used for training and certification of process technicians
  • Coordinate and train all technical staff on process and equipment updates/improvements
  • Oversee and manage fixture and tooling inventory as well as coordinate repairs and/or replacement of worn components
  • Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to define and create operator instructions, critical parameters, checklists and training materials for all molding and post-molding operations
  • Diagnose equipment failures including automation, collect data to identify root causes and develop sustainable solutions
  • Manage and update standard work for technical positions
  • Participate in and lead continuous improvement projects to develop robust systems and processes



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 5+ years of experience as a process technician in plastic injection molding
  • Familiar with office documents such as excel, word and power point.
  • Ability to work independently on broad range of assignments and cross-functionally as part of teams



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Associate degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or similar engineering discipline or a Certified RJG Master Molder/Paulson Pro Molder 2.
  • 8+ years of experience in plastic injection molding process development and tool qualification, manufacturing engineering, equipment commissioning and robot programming
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes for new and unique products
  • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production
  • Experience defining and assessing quality standards associated with common manufacturing processes, first article samples and limit samples, and quality control points with a proven track-record of shepherding products from tool release to mass production
  • Experience with plastics injection molding, CNC, and assembly in a production setting and a good understanding of the costs, schedule and complexity associated with each process
  • Experience with Arburg Machines, ABB robots and Sepro Automation is a plus
  • Experience with SAP is also a plus
  • Experience creating & maintaining a positive atmosphere in a collaborative work team

Pay Range: $11.13-37.46

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
