Responsible for the design, specification, and maintenance of an assigned group of company products, which may include creation of previously non-existent products or modification of existing products. Product enhancements, cost reduction and design for manufacturability are included within this responsibility. Work under minimal supervision and draw solutions from a wide range of experience. Provide technical assistance to less experienced engineers and technicians.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform engineering duties required to analyze new and existing products in the areas of design, function, manufacturability, and other factors to provide for design simplification, standardization, reliability, parts interchangeability, cost reduction, etc.
  2. Prepare drawings; schematics; electrical wiring diagrams; functional block diagrams; bills-of-materials; work instructions; Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manuals; technical documentation and other data as required and oversee the activities of others as they prepare the documents.
  3. Examine and analyze new applications/designs of products to determine feasibility of operation, manufacturing, and application.
  4. Creation, alteration, and refinement of electrical assembly drawings, Printed Circuits Boards schematics, microcontroller code, programmable logic controller code, and Bill of Materials to capture design intent and document the key aspects necessary to adapt company products to specific customer requirements and product applications.
  5. Communicate with other departments such as sales and marketing on the development of product modifications, new product development, and related marketing documents
  6. Apply applicable IEC, NEMA, ATEX, ANSI, CSA, CE, NPFA, NEC or other codes and standards as required.
  7. Assist in the testing and debugging of assigned products in the shop.
  8. Maintain ongoing project requirements, schedules, and specifications for multiple projects in a deadline-based environment.
  9. Work with other departments to resolve DMR issues with orders and/or equipment in the shop and coordinate ECO processing to revise designs as necessary.
  10. Drive continuous improvement necessary to increase productivity, increase product quality and consistency, and/or to reduce costs
