What You Will Do:

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer-Displays! In this role, you will oversee mechanical project details related to avionic displays and computers. You will create drawings and design products according to program requirements using analytical and test methods. You will provide experienced oversight to junior engineers and partner with both internal and external customers to see product development through to completion accurately and efficiently.

How You Will Do It:

  • Design and package ruggedized active-matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) assemblies to meet aircraft environmental requirements
  • Package circuit card assemblies to meet aircraft environmental requirements as well as electrical-derived requirements
  • Conduct card- and box-level thermal and vibration analyses to verify compliance with requirements.
  • Develop mechanical test plans and execute required testing and analysis to verify compliance with requirements.
  • Support current production and provide design and manufacturing recommendations for improvements.
  • Support developmental testing (HALT) as well as Qualification Testing.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to less senior staff members to help mitigate issues.
  • Lead project mechanical design effort by designing avionics enclosures, including mechanical components such as heat sinks, stiffeners, cooling solutions, vibration fixtures, etc..

What We Look For:
Required

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Optical Engineering / Optics, or another relevant engineering degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five years minimum of experience in display hardware development, validation, and research.
  • Five years minimum of experience using current computer aided engineering tool (CAE) and computer-aided drafting tools (CAD)
    1. Solidworks 2024, ANSYS 2024 R2 and Icepak 2024 R2 experience is preferred.
  • Proven electronic packaging design experience including thermal and vibration analysis.
  • Expertise with understanding of optics, backlight design, and display technologies such as LCD, TFT, LED.
  • Experience working with domestic and international vendors to bring products to mass production.
  • Strong working knowledge of display-related calibration and metrology methods.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and PC skills

Desired

  • Experience with ULED is considered a bonus.
  • Experience with the design and development of displays for use in harsh environments. Specifically thermal and vibration challenges.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Aerospace engineering.
  • Experience working with products in a highly regulated industry (Aerospace, Automotive, Medical Device, etc..)
