    Job Responsibilities:
    1. Utilizes nursing assessment skills to perform focused assessments of student health concerns.
    2. Performs emergency first aid care to students and/or staff with injuries and illnesses.
    3. Assists LSN with monitoring for adverse medication effects.
    4. Performs routine first aid care to students and/or staff with injuries and illness and conducts standardized first aid follow-up procedures.
    5. Assist students with self-care tasks of feeding, dressing, and toileting. Lifting will be necessary for repositioning and physical restraints as necessary.
    6. Under the direction of the LSN, provide care to students with chronic medical conditions, including but not limited to administering medication, gastrostomy tube feedings, urinary catheterization, nebulizer treatments.
    7. Support, modify, adjust and monitor individualized instruction in academic areas, functional skills, and/or behavior programs for special education students on a 1:1 or small group basis within both regular and special education classroom settings.
    8. Operate special education equipment (i.e., wheelchairs, and augmentative communication devices, assistive technology) and supervise their safe and proper use.
    9. Apply student management techniques and anticipate, prevent or stop self-destructive student behaviors.
    10. Participate in IEP conferences, school conferences, meetings with staff and/or parents, etc. as requested.
    11. Write concise observational data, maintain a log, record computerized data, maintain behavior charts, and monitor students' attendance on a daily basis.
    12. Will participate in training on third party reimbursement and implement third party reimbursement tasks as needed
    13. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level or other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    1. Valid LPN or RN licensure in Minnesota
    2. Evidence of successful completion of the Personal Care Assistant Training certification test through the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The certification test is available online and must be completed as part of the pre-employment process.
    3. Current first aid training and CPR certification.
    4. Evidence of successful experiences working with students and understanding their needs.
    5. Experience working with school age children preferred.
    6. Experience working in a clinical setting preferred.
    7. Demonstrated experience supporting student instruction in the classroom preferred.
    8. Evidence of knowledge and/or experience in using behavior modification strategies including restitution and resiliency.
    9. Demonstrated training, knowledge and application of CPI strategies, preferred.
    10. Evidence of basic word processing, computer and clerical skills.
    11. Evidence of ability to work in a team environment.
    12. Evidence of willingness to participate in ongoing training in health and technology.
    13. Evidence of the ability to respect, protect and maintain the confidentiality of students, staff, and families.
    14. Evidence of a willingness to work under supervision of Director of Health Services, Licensed School Nurse, and MMW Administration.
    15. Evidence of the ability to organize & prioritize tasks and presenting needs of students/staff and meet deadlines while working with constant interruptions.
    16. Evidence of excellent human relations, oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
