POSITION SUMMARY

The Mountain Camp Supervisor is responsible for coordination and oversight of all aspects related to the daily operation of the camp program in cooperation with the Child Care Manager. The Mountain Camp Supervisor ensures campers are supervised, engaged, and following developmentally appropriate practices. The Mountain Camp Supervisor will ensure that the counselors are supervised, well-trained, and that the facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. This is a full-time seasonal position, compensated at $24.00/hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Fosters communication between parents and counselors through daily interactions
  • Oversee three camp groups between ages 3-10
  • Assist with activity planning, organizing, and provide feedback as needed
  • Assist with the set up and planning for camp before the season starts
  • Encourage and assist counselors with transitions and behavior management
  • Conduct and document monthly safety meetings per Stratton requirements ensuring the departments compliance with Stratton safety protocols
  • Perform or assist with administrative tasks
  • Resolve staff conflict in a respectful and timely manner
  • Responsible for overseeing the summer camps during any short term Child Care Manager absence
  • Must be willing to cover all camp groups as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:
  • High School diploma, or equivalent, required
  • College course work related to child development or education, preferred


Experience:
  • Experience working with kids between 3-10 years old
  • Camp counselor experience, preferred
  • 1 to 2 years supervision and staff management experience, preferred


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge of child development, theories, and practices
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Effective written & verbal communication
  • Passion for Nature Based programming


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will require work during weekends and holidays.
