About the Job

Job duties:

Serve as a consultant to the project by providing expertise related to food and nutrition security, data analysis and evaluation in this project. Will also regularly attend project meetings and help towards developing any data collection protocols and instruments, particularly pertaining to food access and security, and technical review of the reports and publications.

Consulting (100%)

  • Attend project meetings regularly to track and share project updates.
  • Participate in reviewing and revising any project documents including but not limited to meetings agendas and notes; research protocols, guides, instruments, and manuscripts.
  • Lead all evaluation activities conducted for the project including developing evaluation plans and instruments, data analysis, manuscripts, and reports.
  • Assist with any other research and data analysis requested.
  • For up to a total of 250 hours per project year.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced degree in Applied Economics
  • Research examining food insecurity in the Somali American community in the Midwestern United States.

Preferred:

  • Compelling written and oral communication skills for a variety of audiences
About the Department

The Department of Applied Economics (APEC) supports the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Science's (CFANS) and the University of Minnesota's land-grant mission through its teaching, research, and extension programs. APEC's teaching programs include Bachelor of Science degrees in Applied Economics and Agricultural & Food Business Management, and Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Applied Economics. Its research and extension focus are broadly defined as Food Systems; Development, Growth, & Trade; Environmental & Resource Economics; and Public Sector Economics. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $35.00 - $37.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
