The primary purpose of this position is to provide overall management of total warehouse operations. Lead, coach, develop, and manage performance of more than 350 team members. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Oversee and manage all distribution center functions * Direct all shipping operations, to include scheduling; door assignments; off-load coordination; quantity verification and GIANT funding obligation based on correct counts; proper TI/HI for storage; and safe accurate put-away of product * Direct accurate loading in correct store preferred sequence all outbound trailers * Directly supervise all pallet replenishment/letdown and put away operations and the timeliness of replenishments for store order selection * Direct slot location assignment for all carried product * Coordinate directly with support office for regular and sales promo seasonal HBC/GM cross-dock shipments to stores and to ensure accurate cross-dock receiving and outbound loading to minimize risk of shrink at stores; immediately report any discrepancies in truck offloads against trailer load diagrams/manifests * Report all cross-dock pallets and cases directly to the manager, as well as report weekly on the total cases shipped, cases received and year to year comparison * Maintain and oversee seasonal projects and sales pushes while coordinating the inbound and overseeing the inventory for all GM/Specialty Grocery/Bakery. Also responsible for charging each department with the correct dollar amounts for receiving and shipping of all items mentioned * Provide input for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Take immediate action to resolve any WMS System problems that could impact timely completion of daily shipping requirements to stores * Develop and execute effective shift work schedule that allocates available selector/stocker/loader/receiving and supervisor resources to best cover daily workload volumes. This would include reducing manpower at shift start and end, holiday scheduling and overtime scheduling * Effectively collaborate with cross-functional partners and teams * Coach, teach, train, and provide direction to supervisor direct reports * Implement and lead engagement initiatives to improve engagement, retention and performance results * Make sure that all inner company transfers take place and are communicated effectively (Stop & Shop-Landover-C&S), Bakery, Meat, Produce as well as items needing to be transferred to and from other divisions or business partners * Oversee and assist supervision in reviewing, and to resolve any type of receiving or shipping situations that could arise * Work with and monitor the Vo-collect system to research, resolve and notify appropriate management staff when there is a problem * Ensure a safe working environment, adhering to corporate policies and procedures and OSHA regulations * Improve team member relations by leading by example, creating a culture of shared concern for the well-being and genuine respect of all Giant / Martin's associates. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS * Team members are responsible for understanding company policy and procedures as promulgated in the policy and procedure manual and the Team member handbook * Education (minimum needed): High school diploma or GED; some college credit completion preferred * Experience (minimum needed): Leadership in distribution operations with increasing responsibility; previous supervisory experience required * Specialized Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Vo-collect voice selection system; Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) skills required. Solid understanding of warehouse management systems; inventory control, shipping, receiving, productivity management systems, quality management, OSHA regulations and state safety regulations * Special Skills: Solid communication skills, both oral and written; demonstrated managerial skills that generated mutual respect and understanding; strong interpersonal coaching, conflict management, and problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines * Other: Licensed to operate forklift; basic knowledge of a large (30,000 lbs.) ammonia plant operation and emergency response procedures The GIANT Company is an equal opportunity employer.
