The Associate Manager, Ethics & Compliance (E&C) is responsible for managing E&C programs and supporting the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of compliance programs operations. This position will focus on sanction/exclusion screening, conflict of interest reporting, and related program activities, certifications, and processes while working across the organization. Duties include developing and assisting with workplans, policies, procedures, control activities, and department systems. Additionally, the role will support compliance, program integrity, HIPAA, and privacy program related to Henry Schein's businesses in the U.S. This position is part of Henry Schein's global Ethics & Compliance program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Key contact and program administrator for sanction/exclusion screening and conflict of interest programs and tools.
  • Collaborate with the global E&C team, key stakeholders, business units, and newly acquired companies and subsidiaries to ensure screening, reporting, remediation, and control activities are documented and operating effectively to meet internal and external expectations or requirements.
  • Perform issue identification and analysis, track disclosures and screening results, conduct and support internal investigations with members of the E&C team and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with ongoing risk assessment, continuous monitoring, and auditing activities.
  • Develop reports, memoranda, summaries, dashboards, and presentations; responsible for tracking program results, develop metrics and interpreting data trends and statistics, and compile details into compliance presentations.
  • Communicate findings to management and help identify opportunities for improvement in the design and effectiveness of programs and controls.
  • Conduct follow-up activities with business management to help ensure audit findings are adequately remediated.
  • Manage vendor relationships, deployments, monitoring service levels, and reporting; this position may also support other E&C vendor relationship activities on an as needed basis.
  • Facilitate training and campaigns on program procedures, systems, and tool; create toolkits, guides, and templates to assist business users.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of conflict-of-interest reporting requirements, exclusion, sanction, and debarment protocols, HIPAA and privacy regulations, and other healthcare and government contracting compliance rules, regulations, enforcement trends, and program requirements; recommend program, policy, and practice updates that ensure compliance with evolving laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Lead and support project management and process improvement activities.
  • Perform and support special projects and other duties as required.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Healthcare or highly regulated industry experience
  • Understanding of laws and regulations relating to Federal Health Care Programs (Medicare and Medicaid program integrity, HIPAA, Anti-kickback statute, Stark Law, False Claims Act, Exclusion Authorities) preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency with tools, systems, and procedures (e.g., Microsoft products - Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Team), and the ability to learn and apply new tools and technologies, experience with data analytics and visualization tools preferred.
  • Experience with supporting vendor-based third-party SaaS and/or other screening and monitoring tools and application preferred.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

Typically, 6 to 8 or more years of increasing responsibility in terms of any applicable professional experience relating to healthcare compliance, investigations, audit, analytics, system administration, or other related work experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Typically, a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master's degree or global equivalent a plus. One or more industry-related certification or designation (e.g., ACFE, CHC, CIA, PMP) preferred.

The posted range for this position is $86,041-$134,440 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.

This position is eligible for a bonus not reflected in the posted range.
