Department: Community Reintegration Center

Full-time, Hourly

Hourly Range: $14.87 - $22.28/hr

Job Summary

Inventory and maintain property that is taken from residents as they are admitted to the Milwaukee County Community Reintegration Center (CRC). Property staff is responsible for keeping property in order in a secure environment until the resident leaves the Milwaukee County Community Reintegration Center. If the resident is transferred to a state facility, property room staff is required to ensure the person picking up the resident's property is the authorized person.

Schedule: Must have availability to work on 1st and 2nd shifts including weekends, some holidays and infrequent overtime are required.

Job Responsibilities



  • Receive bagged property and add on property from changeover - During resident's change over, officer hands property clerk the bag of property along with the clothing taken from the resident while they are changing into resident clothing. Everything goes into assigned bag or area so it can be located when needed. Everything must be documented into CMS.
  • Provide officer with resident clothing, sheets, and blankets - Property clerks provide officers with clothing, sheets, and blankets for resident that are new to the facility during change over process.
  • Separate, search, and document all property for State resident transfers - Residents transferred to MSDF (State Facility) are only allowed to take certain things with them. Property clerk must sort through resident's property, separate what needs to go and what must stay, then document it in CMS. Any items remaining here at the CRC must be stored.
  • Maintain Jury Clothing - Residents appearing for jury trial are allowed personal clothing. Property room must maintain and document jury clothing in CMS. Jury clothing can be dropped off the day before trial and needs to be picked up the day after the trial ends. If the items are not picked up the next day, it gets documented, and the clothing is stored in the resident's property bag.
  • Maintaining Legal Paperwork and Discovery - Legal paperwork and discovery (USB drive with evidence from attorney) are kept in the property room. Property clerks must log into CMS anytime it is removed or returned.
  • Release of Property - Property is released when a resident requests someone to pick it up or gets released to pick it up themselves. A valid state ID must be produced when picking up property and it must be logged into CMS.
  • Maintaining Resident Medication - Anytime a medication Is received, it must be logged into CMS and locked in the secured cabinet. When a residents medication needs to be transferred to another facility, it needs to be logged in CMS and approved by a supervisor.
  • Transferring Property to CJF - When a resident is transferred to CJF, property must be physically pulled and prepared for transfer. This must also be documented into CMS as a transfer so that CJF can pick it up.
  • Credit Card Pull - When a resident wants to self-bail, an officer must bring a self-bail form showing the resident wants to use his/her credit card. Card must be pulled from property, documented, and given to Records to further process.
  • Monitor Issues with Conveyer Belt - Property bags are kept on conveyor belt, conveyor belt must be in always working order.
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 40 lbs.; ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences



  • Current residency within the State of Wisconsin upon application required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One (1) year or more of work experience in a Clerical support role required
  • Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams required
  • Basic data entry skills and previous work experience entering data required
  • Employees must be able to work alone, keep accurate records in a database, read a spreadsheet and fill orders, communicate with the public in person and on the phone, and have good organizational skills
