Job Purpose

The Unit Leader of Market Information is responsible for setting the strategy and future direction for quality analytics and market collaboration with each North American Auto factory. This includes establishing and integrating regional plans for developing and maintaining advanced quality monitoring, reporting system processes and Artificial Intelligence. This role requires cross company collaboration with both North American & Global Quality Groups to ensure ongoing development and maturation of analytics resources, balancing the development of knowledge/skills of our analysts with advancements in systems/technology, developing methods to efficiently identify emerging and/or potential market issues. Manages multiple unique groups each performing diverse roles of medium and high complexity. The Unit must maintain advanced knowledge / skills and work towards predictive analysis, quickly adapting to changes in the marketplace and providing tools and data to identify problems before they impact our customers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for Honda's regional quality analytics strategy and ensures that the North America quality analytics strategy maintains aligned with the NAQ and HMCo's Quality strategic direction. Develop methodology to monitor all Honda and Acura vehicles produced or sold in North America and identify and promote market issues and trends. Lead and innovate business characteristic improvements at a regional level: identify gaps, create strategic business plans, prepare for environmental changes: new technology, new business, workload, budget constraints. Continually adapt to changes in the marketplace, including the implementation of new vehicle designs and technologies, predicting potential failure modes and ensuring our process can identify all new problems arising in the market.
  • Lead the activity to mitigate market exposure risks, understand market quality dynamics and identify emerging product problems, using all available data (warranty, Tech Line, ACS, NHTSA VOQ, FQR, Social Media, etc.). Develop teams to theme-up on these problems and issue QIS reports to promote investigations inside of Market Quality groups by the time they hit quality thresholds. This includes all supporting information and primary analysis of the problems.
  • Lead and innovate business characteristic improvements at a regional level: identify gaps, create strategic business plans, prepare for environmental changes: new technology, new business, workload, budget constraints.
  • Responsible for associate development, growth and workload management of direct reports as well as support role for technical growth and new tech preparation for each associate.
  • Interact with external organizations, organizes and implements training initiatives, strengthens engagement and alignment.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Required Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field.


Required Experience:



  • 10 years of more in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • 6 years or more of experience in a leadership or managerial role.

Decisions Expected

  • Identify needs, promotion of needs and implementation of systems and process changes to maximize speed to identify and report market issues
  • Safety recall outreach strategies, with focus on overall risk mitigation impacting market action decisions
  • Direct report skill assessment, performance evaluations and succession planning

Working Conditions

  • Travel to other N.A. sites for 1-3 day duration; 1-2 times per year; possible trip to Japan (once every 2-3 years)
  • Expected 5-10 hours overtime per week as needed
  • Majority of work would be performed within North American Quality Control office
