Reporting directly to a Senior Philanthropy Officer, this individual will be responsible for helping with the day-to-day operations around the Office of Philanthropy at Cone Health. This person supports the promotion of organizational events and ongoing communications with external audiences in our service areas, primarily through our sponsorship of the Wyndham Golf Tournament in early August. Other duties may also be assigned as needed.

Nights and weekends will be required for some events, including the Wyndham Golf Tournament from Monday, July 28 until Sunday, August 3. This position will be a hybrid format of both in-person and virtual work from home.

This internship position is a time-limited, temporary position with a start date of June 2, 2025. The total number of hours that an intern can work during this timeframe is 250 hours.

Interns hired for the summer cohort will be enrolled in Campus Greensboro's Summer Fellows Program. This is an in-person, professional development training program sponsored by Cone Health.

To be considered, candidates must meet at least one of the below criteria:

  1. Local College Students: Attendees of local institutions including University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Guilford College, Greensboro College, Guilford Technical Community College, Bennett College, Elon University and School of Law, North Carolina A&T State University.
  2. Guilford County High School Graduates: Those who graduated from Guilford County high schools and are now furthering their education outside of Greensboro.
  3. First Generation College Students: Students who are the first in their families to attend any college or university.

Support database management reporting, constituent updates, and loading event RSVP lists

Manage Cone Health's role at the Wyndham Golf Tournament including ticket management, attendee outreach, and reporting

Assist with solicitation mailers, database management, and reporting

Support the entire Cone Health Philanthropy team

Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Philanthropy Officer

  • Exposure to Cone Health key internal and external audiences in our five-county service area, including leadership, team members, Medical and Dental staff, patients, and community leaders and businesses.

EDUCATION:

3.0 GPA or higher and a junior, senior or graduate student.

EXPERIENCE:

Skills:

Passion for fundraising and philanthropic work

Experience with non-profit work through community service or research

Interest in health care and wellness

Proven ability to work with consideration and respect for cross-cultural differences

Excellent spoken and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and take initiative

Willingness to integrate into the team

Proficient in Microsoft programs including word, excel, power point and publisher

Skills in database management (Salesforce) (preferred) and willingness to learn
