Position Summary:

The Global Procurement and Strategic Sourcing Function is an established organization and is focused on bringing efficiency and standardization to business processes for the identification, engagement and performance of our strategic suppliers and service providers.This position will build and provide strategic sourcing support for the global procurement function and our rapidly evolving company. The ideal candidate will be an innovative, resourceful and passionate professional able to create fit-for-purpose solutions that bring efficiency and simplification to the process of engaging external service providers to the company as it continues to commercialize and build a robust pipeline for the future.

This role will report to the Executive Director, Global Procurement, managing selected sourcing activities for several functions, including Commercial, Technical Operations and G&A. Additionally, this role will provide sourcing support for the Executive Director and Director of Global Procurement on complex projects in other functional areas, as required. The role will require integration of supplier selection, consolidation of spend, cross-functional collaboration and working in partnership with the respective stakeholders. The successful candidate will require a track record of success in driving Procurement and Strategic Sourcing across multiple categories and is able to lead and influence business leaders and across multiple functions. The candidate must be flexible and have a strong aptitude, in a fast-paced environment while being committed to driving optimal value and performance from suppliers, without compromising the highest levels of quality and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities Include:



  • Help define and execute sourcing activities to meet corporate global business objectives.
  • Help to drive compliance with sourcing policy.
  • Execute category strategies.
  • Operationalize category management to deliver value across the organization through cross functional project execution, operational excellence, supplier relationship management, negotiation of supply agreements, performance measurement and risk management.
  • Collaborate and build productive relationships with internal business partners and stakeholders to identify opportunities to gain efficiencies, drive cost savings and reduce risk while fulfilling business requirements.
  • Establish and foster effective executive relationships with key suppliers.


Education, Registration & Certification:



  • BA or BS degree required.


Experience:



  • 5-7 years of industry experience in functional area (Sourcing / Purchasing) required.
  • Thorough understanding of GxP guidelines understanding of cross-functional processes and team dynamics.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:



  • Strategic thinker: Must be able to develop multi-year category strategy based on market analysis and corporate objectives.
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguity, to create and drive structure and to seek clarity when necessary.
  • Outstanding communication, consultative, and interpersonal skills: This resource must influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Superior executive presence is required for meetings with senior executives, handling conflict situations, influencing others to their strategy and way of thinking, and to provide inspirational leadership for other continuous improvement resources.
  • Superior problem-solving/solution architect and business acumen skills: Must have outstanding ability to diagnose problems which could relate to process, policy, technology, strategy, or people and to put in place actions/measures to address. Candidate should have full functional knowledge of key end-to-end business processes (Source to Pay)
  • Project and Program Management: Must have proven track record of managing and delivering multiple functional projects at the same time. Candidate should have proven experience with full life-cycle business process improvement methodology (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, PMI), ERP experience and other related systems (SAP, Jaggaer, Agiloft, GEP, Ariba, Coupa, etc.).
  • Financial management: Must have proven ability to develop and oversee the development of solid business cases to demonstrate the value proposition to move forward with project investment.
  • Contracting experience: an understanding of the basic contract agreements, terms and a willingness to assist in bringing contracts to the execution phase.
  • An expert in procurement processes, category management and sourcing of external services and/or goods for the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced expanding company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description.
  • Ability to operate in a cross-functional matrix team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:



  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets. This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Travel Requirements:



  • Up to 20% travel expected.
