Onsite Sr. Lab Technician

In this role, you will report to the Onsite Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Cambridge, MA

Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM

Hourly Rate: $30

What we're looking for

• Education: A degree or certification in a relevant scientific field (e.g., chemistry, biology, or a related discipline) or equivalent experience.

• Experience:

• Previous experience in a laboratory environment, preferably with hands-on benchtop or support roles.

• Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and inventory control is a plus.

• Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred

• Specialized certifications or training in safety, laboratory operations, or equipment use may be required (e.g., hazardous material handling, first aid).

• Ability to lift, carry, and handle lab equipment and materials.

• Comfortable working in various lab settings, including stockrooms and Point-of-Use locations.

• Willingness and ability to meet any specific PPE requirements or access certifications as necessary for the role.

• Ability to troubleshoot issues and work independently or with minimal supervision.

• Experience using systems like SAP, Oracle, or other ERP software for inventory management, chemical tracking, and shipping activities.

Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will:

• Prioritize safety and comply with safety standards as part of your duties, actively contributing to safety initiatives aligned with Avantor's safety standards.

• Utilize necessary Avantor and/or customer systems, such as Inventory Management, Chemical Tracking systems, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems, to perform job functions.

• Create, comprehend, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); suggest improvements, anticipate needs, and recognize necessary revisions to SOPs. Demonstrate the ability to train others on SOPs, respond to customer service or expansion requests, and communicate these to leadership for consideration.

• Oversee inventory control, communicate with customers, ensure scope of work adherence, and maintain proper documentation for any changes.

• Coordinate shipping activities, including handling customer material, resolving routine issues, operating basic warehouse equipment, inputting shipping information into customer systems, and performing equipment inspections.

• Manage all customer service-related functions, including order entry, reporting, and maintaining performance metrics.

• Some specialized access, PPE, or certifications may be required.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment, which may include cubicles, stockrooms, and Point-of-Use locations at customer sites.

• Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
