Field Service Technician II

Summary:
Provides on-site troubleshooting and investigative analysis at customer sites. May also support the installation, programming and training to customer employees as required.

Responsibilities:
* Prepare and evaluate equipment to be used in on-site troubleshooting and analysis
* Review work order and related documentation to determine tasks to be performed in the troubleshooting assignment
* Discuss assignment with internal technical representatives and customer's representative to understand the nature of the problem and ensure that the product was properly assembled according to specifications
* Assist with coordinating the installation of hardware and software updates in the field as required
* Test mechanical and electrical components, using the appropriate tools, and replace faulty components as necessary
* Track and trend on-site problem detection and resolution
* May train customer's staff as required
* May troubleshoot problems remotely, either on the phone or computer, depending on the nature of the problem
* Make technical recommendations on product improvement, reliability and troubleshooting techniques and tools based on product performance
* Stay abreast of latest equipment, material and process trends in the electronics industry
* Work closely with senior engineers on the resolution of the more complex and difficult problems in the field
Train lower-level technicians
* Monitor processes and assemblies for product Design for Manufacturability (DFM) issues and drive feedback through appropriate channels
* All employees are responsible for the Quality of their work to ensure BEI meets or exceeds Customer Satisfaction.

* 2-year technical degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by executive management
* 0-3+ years of experience in process and equipment improvements
Level II
* 2-year technical degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by executive management
* 5-7+ years of process and equipment improvements and qualifications experience
* Ability to work with and train diverse groups
* Demonstrate high level of problem-solving skills, exhibiting creativity in developing situations
* May involve significant international travel
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills
* Effective interpersonal skills
* Effective multitasking skills and the ability to take on additional responsibilities as required
* Effective organizational and prioritization skills
* Demonstrate high attention to detail
* Demonstrate discretion, confidentiality and professionalism when representing the company
* Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation, as required
* Ability to work overtime when needed; ability to be on call when needed
* Ability to work with diverse groups
* Participate in a continuous improvement activity
* Overnight travel required; may include a limited amount of international travel depending on the nature of the issues to be addressed
