The Lewis Katz School of Medicine seeks an experienced and innovative Director of Information Technology (IT) to lead our technology initiatives and drive our strategic vision. The Director of IT is responsible for shaping the school's IT strategy, ensuring that our technological infrastructure supports academic excellence, research, and administrative efficiency. The Director will play a key role in fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, working closely with faculty, students, and administrative staff to identify and implement technology solutions that enhance the educational experience. By leveraging emerging technologies and best practices, the Director will help position the college as a leader in medical education and research, ultimately contributing to improved outcomes for students and faculty alike.
Essential Functions:
*Responsibilities include developing and implementing a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with Katz's goals and objectives while leading and mentoring the IT team to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
*The Director will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and security protocols, ensuring the reliability, availability, and security of all technology systems.
*Oversee the LKSOM IT budget by providing leadership, planning, and supervision to the IT department, ensuring cost-effective resource use and compliance with financial policies. This role also involves communicating current and projected needs, requirements, and options in the college budgeting process, while identifying and recommending technology investments and acquisitions that align with the college's strategic initiatives.
*Work with school faculty investigators and research administration to implement secure and reliable technology to support all research initiatives.
*Collaborate with stakeholders to identify technology needs will be essential, as will the oversight of the development and maintenance of web and mobile applications that support academic programs and services.
*Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of plans for technology and lead change to continuously improve and enhance information technology services in Katz SOM.
*Develop, mentor and oversee appropriate staffing to meet the school's IT needs; foster the efficient delivery of friendly, top-tier client/customer services.
*The Director will ensure the integrity and security of the school's data systems, including student information systems and academic records, while utilizing data analytics to inform decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
*Additionally, the Director will provide training and resources for faculty and staff on technology tools and best practices, staying current with emerging technologies and trends in higher education to identify opportunities for innovation.
*Oversee the purchasing and deployment of technology across the school. Oversees and/or participates in the development and delivery of instruction/training and documentation to student, faculty and staff.
*Track and monitor all help desk service requests made through remedy database for Katz
*Performs other duties as assignede
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. At least 7 years of experience, including supervisory or management experience in IT. Proven experience in IT leadership in a medical school is strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Master's degree also preferred.
Required Skills & Abilities:
*Proven experience in IT leadership, preferably within an academic or healthcare environment.
*Technical knowledge and analytical skills to identify complex system issues and coordinate an effective resolution
*Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud services, and security best practices.
*Experience in application development and management, including web and mobile platforms.
*Familiarity with data management systems and analytics tools.
*Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and customer service.
*Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with college faculty, staff, administration, and governing boards
