Position Overview

The Manager, IT Quality Assurance is responsible for providing leadership to team members by ensuring appropriate QA resources are assigned to projects involving designated IT computer systems. This role will contribute to the test strategies for these projects and ensure QA processes are executed and meet defined quality standards.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the QA processes and resourcing for projects involving designated IT computer systems.
  • Ensure appropriate scheduling of QA resources to projects.
  • Contribute to defining test strategies and approaches.
  • Provide direction to QA team members to develop and execute test plans to achieve deadlines and meet business objectives.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members and stakeholders.
  • Drive the review and resolution of defects or other concerns with stakeholders and project team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams and stakeholders to ensure risks and their impacts are identified, documented, and mitigated.
  • Contribute to contingency plans.
  • Communicate project status and concerns to the program manager on a regular basis.
  • Participate in team recruiting process, contributing to resource capacity planning and the creation and maintenance of job descriptions.
  • Provide expertise for multiple computer systems that support designated business processes and ensure similar knowledge is developed across the team.
  • Provide insight, recommendations, and assistance with technical and non-technical questions.
  • Lead end-to-end, feature-level test reviews to multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure QA processes support future audits.
  • Ensure project requirements, such as, business requirements, functional requirements, and technical requirements are uniquely identified and documented.
  • Maintain requirements to test cases to objective evidence traceability matrix.
  • Review completed test plans for conformance to prescribed standards.
  • Participate in process development and definition of standard quality principles across IT.
  • Participates in change management and release management processes for designated IT computer systems.
  • Collaborate with business leaders, IT Business Partners, the QA and Compliance Team program manager, and vendors to ensure risks are articulated, documented, and mitigated and that contingency plans are developed prior to release.
  • Ensure system changes meet quality standards and can be released into the production environments in a controlled, reproducible, and safe manner.
  • Coordinate level 3 QA support during expedited and/or major releases.
  • Monitor application performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicategoals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.
  • Ability to travel 15% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Information Technology, or field as outlined in the essential duties; or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 4 years relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in quality assurance computer systems.
  • 3+ years of experience as QA lead on complex software development projects that includes cross-functional team and vendor coordination.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards in a regulated environment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with order management systems, sales CRM, document management systems, call center systems, EHR systems and data exchange standards.
  • Experience developing and maintaining KPI metrics for team performance.
  • Knowledge and experience with FDA, QSR, ISO 13485, and other Quality System requirements.
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory, biological laboratory, or medical device development environment.

Salary Range:

$124,000.00 - $200,000.00

The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
