Basic Function

Under close and frequent supervision, assists site Industrial Hygienist and Safety personnel by performing routine safety assignments for the Safety Department.

Job Duties

(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)



  • Coordinates project assignments with those of other safety personnel and technicians in his/her discipline group.



May be required to do some or all of the following:



  • Conducts Industrial Hygiene sampling and analysis.
  • Inputs Industrial Hygiene / Occupational Health data and sample results into the company database for proper record keeping.
  • Conducts statistical analysis of existing safety data and provides reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Conducts research to develop new and improved safety processes.
  • Assists in design and plan layout for safety processes.
  • Assists with investigating safety incidents and prepares reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Investigates the need for collecting and analyzing new safety data and develops collection methods and tools, such as spreadsheets and formatted reports.
  • Reviews engineering projects for safety concerns and recommends necessary changes.
  • Research regulation issues and work with City, State, County, and Federal officials.
  • Assists with other duties assigned by the Safety Manager.

None required.

Education Level

Pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree in a Safety related field and completion of Junior year courses are required. 3.0 grade average or higher (transcript required).

Required Skills

Basic knowledge of safety concepts, OSHA regulations and ability to apply this knowledge analytically. The basic ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential. Basic knowledge of Microsoft products.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

None.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing up to 200 ft, perceive color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted), ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential (inability to maintain standard insurance rates is grounds for dismissal), valid State driver's license and proof of insurance required.Depending on location must satisfactorily complete a comprehensive medical physical examination. Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
