Group Leader

Immediate opportunities are available for experienced and motivated Group Leaders who are eager to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. As a Group Leader at Johnson Controls, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality products. You will lead and support a team, allocate tasks, and collaborate with supervisors to achieve key performance goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your leadership skills while contributing to the success of our operations.

Pay

$20/h+ $1.25/h shift differential

What You Will Do:

  • Work with the Supervisor to understand daily production requirements and manage the workflow within your assigned area(s).

  • Allocate and manage work for your team to ensure tasks are completed as per expectations. Conduct shift start-up meetings and communicate the day's goals and objectives, including Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.

  • Lead daily Zero Harm coaching sessions to reinforce safety standards, recognize best practices, and highlight any safety issues or improvements.

  • Document actual vs. target goals for each hour of production on the Hr. by Hr. chart and identify reasons for production gaps. Ensure this data is properly documented and shared with the Supervisor for follow-up and corrective action.

  • Oversee the training of new hires and transfers to ensure compliance with safety requirements and quality standards.

  • Coordinate with the team to conduct daily Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) audits and report any maintenance needs to the Supervisor.

  • Communicate effectively with the Supervisor regarding any concerns related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Equipment, and Material availability.

  • Help maintain the organization's focus on Lean principles, 5S, visual factory management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Identify waste and variation that could result in unsafe conditions, product defects, or missed Takt Time. Utilize problem-solving methodologies, including A3, to address these issues.

  • Lead by example, adhering to and demonstrating Johnson Controls' values: Integrity First, Customer Driven, One Team, Future Focused & Purpose Led.

What We Look For:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Experience in leading teams, allocating tasks, and managing production requirements.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.

  • Familiarity with Lean principles, 5S, TPM, and visual factory management practices.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems using A3 problem-solving methodologies.

  • Knowledge of safety standards and practices in a manufacturing environment.

  • Attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more).

  • Ability to stand, bend, climb stairs, and work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods (8+ hours).

  • Capability to work in various industrial conditions (e.g., noise, heat, etc.).
