Manager - Medical Center ACPE Programs
Job Summary Manages staff, students, and the accreditation of the UCSF Medical Center's ACPE programs through organizing and delegation. Monitors administration of fiscal, material, and human resources relevant to the Medical Center's ACPE Programs. Develops and maintains ACPE program policies and procedures in alignment or coordination with UCSF Medical Center, UCSF Health, and Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy Education's policies, procedures, and mandates. Supervises UCSF Medical Center's Chaplain Supervisors/Certified Educators and ACPE learners, residents, and fellow(s), individually and/or in small groups.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. The annual salary range for this position is $98,300-$210,300, with a min. entry point of $140,670+, based on experience. Department Description Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy Education provides multi-faith, emotional, crisis, spiritual, and religious support to the patients, parents/guardians, families, visitors, allied health learners and the interdisciplinary staff of UCSF by establishing and maintaining relationships and programs that enable care for people in the context of their spiritual or existential needs and resources. UCSF Medical Center is accredited and funded to conduct the largest ACPE clinical chaplain training program on the West Coast.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in theology, divinity, or religious studies OR six years of equivalent experience.
- Five (5) or more years of relevant chaplaincy and ACPE Certified Educator experience
- Leadership skills in employee supervision and HR administration to effectively manage, lead, and motivate others.
- Conflict resolution skills to resolve personnel issues and counsel assigned staff and students to develop cooperative working relationships.
- Experience and proven success in accreditation maintenance of ACPE training programs.
- Project management and customer service skills to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility, anticipates, and effectively handles change.
- Broad knowledge of the concepts, principles, best practices, and regulations involved in providing quality spiritual care in a multi-faith and multi-spiritual clinical setting, as well as an understanding of the role that spiritual care plays in both care coordination and clinical care.
- Knowledge of relevant medical center, HR and UC policies and processes.
- Broad knowledge of relevant industry federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Ability to organize relevant operations in an efficient and effective manner through improving Spiritual Care Services processes, procedures, and systems.
- Skills to collaborate within and across departments / locations to coordinate daily Spiritual Care Services activities and resolve problems, especially related to chaplain trainees and chaplain educator/supervisors. Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, assigned staff and students.
- Proven analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify options for resolution. Demonstrates sound judgment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate through all media and with all groups. Demonstrated abilities to listen actively, persuade, advise, counsel, and influence all levels of staff and students.
- Knowledge of available information technology software in the Spiritual Care field.
- Ability to work with people of diverse ethnicities, spiritual and religious traditions, cultures, ages, and health conditions, as well as with similarly diverse colleagues on an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Skill in articulating ethical and moral concerns that affect medical practice, hospital procedures, and their impact on patients, families, staff, and community.
- Ability to work collegially with congregation-based community religious leaders and field education faculty of religious and theological schools.
Preferred Qualifications Certification preferred: Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), Neshama: the Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC), and/or the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) is preferred.
License/Certification Licenses required:
- Endorsement, ordination, commissioning, or official recognition by one's affiliation group to function as a professional chaplain. Maintains good standing in affiliation group.
