What We Offer

This R&D Scientist role Contributes to the development of new and/or improvement of existing products and technologies by providing laboratory technical support for synthesis and formulations within the projects. The experiments and standard analyses are conducted using best practices and should be prepared using the appropriate literature, software and input from the relevant R&D scientist. Furthermore, scale-up experiments are conducted via the attendance and guidance of experimental batches produced on pilot plant and plant scale.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Possesses requisite technical knowledge to execute moderately complex assignments; can design tests, processes and suggest new technical approaches
  • More independent approaches to finding solutions. Utilizes broader resource base to solve problems
  • Primary focus is on team goals; influences project direction by providing technical input to the planning and decision making process
  • Expected to communicate findings/convey technical understanding to a wide range of internal customers. Interacts and collaborates with cross-functional groups
  • Has understanding of department technical goals and provides services that substantially affect the units' results and are of high value. Makes and implements recommendations with internal approval.
  • Operate according to Quality, Environment, Safety and Health procedures and instructions. Maintain good housekeeping and compliance in all relevant areas.
  • Has higher level of involvement in safety improvement activities (reviews, training, etc.) and By executing/analyzing experiments in the lab, supporting new product development projects in a defined area of expertise, thereby improving the existing portfolio of products adding to the CA profitable growth (via product development, business support, customer solutions, manufacturing support).

What You Offer

Basic Qualifications:

  • Basic education (degrees in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field; experience preferably in coating and/or adhesives laboratories)
    • No degree with 11+ years of exceptional industry experience
    • Associates degree with 6+ years of experience
    • Bachelors degree with 3+ years of experience
    • Masters degree with 2+ years of experience
    • Ph.D. with 0 years of experience
  • Knowledge in synthesis and the testing of raw materials for coatings and/or adhesives

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good project and time management skills
  • Proven ability to independently plan and effectively execute lab projects guided by segment strategy and priorities, solve complex problems and complete synthesis safely and efficiently
  • Very good communication, critical thinking, problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams, in diverse groups, and with other cultures, i.e., integrative and inclusive
  • Ability to travel domestically
