Position Summary:

Field Access Manager, Systemic

US Patient Services is focused on maintaining excellence in patient services and delivering an exquisite patient and healthcare professional (HCP) experience. The Field Access Manager, Systemic is an integral part of the team responsible for supporting patient access to prescribed treatment for patients battling serious and rare diseases. The Field Access Manager will use their reimbursement and access expertise to compliantly address challenges impacting patients' access to Apellis products prescribed by their HCP.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities Include:




  • Establish collaborative relationships within Patient Services, Field Sales, Value Access and Policy (VAP) and other relevant teams to support patient access.
  • Provide proactive education to key facility/practice staff regarding Apellis Patient Services Programming and reimbursement specific to Apellis products. Apellis Patient Services include but are not limited to case management, reimbursement, patient assistance, care educator support & affordability programming and product dispensing.
  • Provide coverage and reimbursement information, including payer-specific prior authorization requirements, to key staff members to support patient access to Apellis products.
  • Ensure compliant use of Personal Health Information (PHI) with appropriate patient consent.
  • Track reimbursement journey, focusing on aging patient cases, to ensure thoughtful support and effective intervention when appropriate.
  • Maintain acurrent repository of plan-specific reimbursement criteria, forms, and submission procedures.
  • Identify coverage issue patterns to resolve payer issues quickly.
  • Review patient status trackers daily to ensure quality service by network pharmacy(ies).
  • Communicate cross-functionally to ensure current and accurate communication on the status of Start Forms.


  • Proactively prioritize and address patient access bottlenecks. Trends identified should be internally escalated, as appropriate.


  • Works as an integral part of the Patient Services team - functioning as the key point person for field escalations to ensure quick resolution of stakeholder challenges.
  • Gains and maintains Apellis Patient Services operations expertiseand is a trusted resource cross-functionally.



Education, Registration & Certification:



  • BA/BS required



Experience



  • 5+ years of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare coverage, coding and/or reimbursement experience
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy products
  • Hematology/Oncology and/or Nephrology experience preferred
  • Rare disease experience preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Travel Requirements:



  • Travel up to 80% inclusive of Company meetings and conferences.
