Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc., is the nation's leading manufacturer of Ductile Iron Waterworks Fittings and Appurtenances has an immediate opening for aShipping Clerk.Tyler Union's main manufacturing facility is located on Greenbrier Dear Road in Anniston, AL.

As a Shipping Clerk, your responsibilities will include verifying and maintaining records for incoming and outgoing shipments, as well as preparing items for shipment. This will involve tasks such as assembling, addressing, stamping, and dispatching products, along with receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming shipments. Additionally, you will coordinate transportation arrangements for the products.

This is a salaried non-exempt position, with an excellent benefits package with health, life, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, vacation, holiday pay and 401(k).

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members.
  • Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.
  • Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles.
  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
  • Prepare documents, such as bills of lading, shipping orders, customer paperwork, to route materials.
  • Print less-than-truckload (LTL) documents.
  • Bill less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload shipments.
  • Confer or correspond with carrier representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications. File claims as needed.
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
  • Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials; assist to find lost or misplaced freight.
  • Determine best shipping methods for materials to be shipped.
  • Assist Sales with any special customer requests.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma is required.
  • One to three years of related on-the-job experience required.
  • Experience working in a computer-based ERP and data entry preferred.
