Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Information Specialist for the Research Data & Analytics Department within the Office for Research (
OFR). This position is responsible for managing, organizing, analyzing, and distributing information/data within an organization.
The Office for Research's (
OFR) mission is to support the research, scholarship, and creative endeavors of all Rutgers faculty. The Office accomplishes its mission by convening with academic and research leaders, providing integrated, user-focused resources, services and tools and partnering with faculty.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Analyzes research data generated by OFR departments, identifying inconsistencies and offering suggestions on how to prevent them, all with the goal of ensuring data integrity.
- Supports the department in its efforts to utilize data to tell stories and make data-informed decisions.
- Works with OFR units to develop data visualizations, dashboards and reports and assist with the interpretation of data trends and outliers.
- Engages with internal and external stakeholders requesting custom reports, utilizing both analytical and communications skills to handle such requests professionally.
- Works under general supervision of the Director, demonstrating a good understanding and application of OFR data policies and procedures.
- Collects, analyzes and organizes information from various sources.
- Maintains databases, records, and information systems.
- Responds to inquiries and providing information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensures data accuracy, security, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Creates reports, summaries, and presentations based on data analysis, visualization.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, communications or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of data integrity principles and requirements.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience utilizing a variety of data visualization tools and methods to create reports, graphs and dashboards.
