As a Payroll Manager your goal is to lead all payroll operations and strategy, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll for Briggs & Stratton employees across the United States and Canada, while ensuring full compliance with federal, state/provincial and local regulations. You'll also oversee the project to implement a new payroll system, including planning, testing, integration processes, etc. and manage third-party vendors and a direct report to achieve established payroll objectives and operations. Finally, you'll maintain a strong focus on data integrity to ensure the data's accuracy and security; driving continuous improvement efforts, enhancing the efficiency in payroll processes and maximizing the utilization of third-party vendors. #LI-MD1 #LI-Hybrid You will do this by:
- Managing and processing payroll for both the US and Canada across multiple frequencies (i.e., weekly, semi-monthly), ensuring timely and accurate calculation of wages, deductions and taxes.
- Staying informed on legislative changes; ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state/provincial and local payroll regulations, including wage and hour laws, tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Managing and evaluating the relationships with payroll vendors, ensuring service level agreement expectations are met, and is seamlessly integrating with internal processes.
- Maintaining the highest level of data integrity within payroll systems and processes, ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality and privacy of employee data; implementing data-integrity standards and protocols.
- Generating and analyzing payroll reports to identify trends, variances and any potential issues or insights to report to management.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities for process and system improvements, including streamlining workflows, automating tasks and leveraging technology to enhance the efficiency of operations.
- Ensuring accurate and timely tax calculations, filings, remittances and reconciliations on tax accounts
- Performing a full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA, performance management, department budget.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field OR equivalent education and experience
- Minimum of seven, with ten or more preferred, years of progressive experience in payroll management
- Minimum of three, with five or more preferred, years experience leading/managing a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with payroll system implementations
- Strong working knowledge of Dayforce and/or UKG software
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
Additional Knowledge & Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of payroll practices including payroll rules, regulations and tax withholding laws
- Strong analytical skills & ability to devise & solicit new approaches to solving system problems & automating payroll processes
- Ability to motivate, guide, mentor, supervise and review work of multi-functional staff groups
- Strong written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with diverse groups
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities/projects along with ability to isolate and resolve problems within fixed time frames
- Strong computer literacy, especially spreadsheet and document software
- Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
