Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer will support the Sponsor's development and implementation of cloud-based cyber defense solutions that protect critical infrastructure and sensitive information from cyber threats. The candidate will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based systems and solutions that support our cyber defense mission, with a a focus on implementing cloud security solutions that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional team to identify and prioritize systems requirements, develop and maintain technical documentation, and design and implement cloud security controls and measures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based systems and solutions that support the Sponsor's cyber defense solution.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to identify and prioritize cloud systems requirements and design solutions that meet those requirements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system diagrams, architecture designs, and technical notes.
- Design and implement cloud security controls and measures that meet the requirements of the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process, ensuring compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure that cloud-based systems and solutions are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Stay up to date with emerging cloud technologies and threats and make recommendations for how to leverage these technologies to improve the organizations cyber defense capabilities.
- Lead and/or participate in technical exchange meetings (TEMs) as directed by the Sponsor
- Participate in the development and implementation of cloud security standards and guidelines.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the Sponsor's organization for requirements gathering and ensure that cloud security solutions are designed and implemented in compliance with relevant security standards, policies, and regulations.
Qualifications
- Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline, or equivalent experience as a systems engineer supporting systems integration and test activities on a large integration program/cloud environment.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.
- Strong understanding of cloud security concepts
- Strong understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, etc.)
- Experience with cloud security frameworks and standards
- Demonstrated ability to work as an active member of a cohesive and energetic team and ability to work independently as needed to meet requirements
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Desired Qualifications:
- Certifications in any of the following: Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD), Sun Certified Java Programmed (SCJP), Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, Amazon Web Servies Certified Developer - Associate, etc.
- Strong understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
- Experience using Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform and AWS CDK
