Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position |
To provide information technology support for the library's operational, academic, and research mission, liaising with campus Information Technology Services as needed, providing customer service, prompt resolution of issues, and creative problem-solving. This position will collaborate closely with the department team to ensure accessibility and usability of the Makerspace, audio/video production, collaboration areas, and other specialized student spaces in the library. |
Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The library's academic technology team works to provide an information technology backbone for the library's operational, academic, and research mission, liaising with campus Information Technology Services as needed, providing excellent customer service, prompt resolution of issues, and creative problem-solving. The team utilizes a triage model to effectively deploy our time, expertise, and resources. This position coordinates with our student workers, our Tier I support, serving as Tier II support, referring situations to Tier
III as needed. We also provide an entrepreneurial-focused and curricula-engaged Makerspace, including audio/video production and software development supporting students, researchers, and employees to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects. |

Duties |
Support providing academic information technology by problem solving and diagnosing computer-, device-, and printer-related issues for students and library staff in specialized service offerings such as the Makerspace and audio/video production suites. Assist with preparing, safely deploying, and maintaining specialized tools and devices for Makerspace academic and audio/video production library use. Ensure technology and software is accessible and usable for the university community. Assist with keeping inventory of all specialized related items and supplies in the library up to date in a timely manner. Communicating with campus IT when necessary to solve network and/or computer/device related issues and concerns. |

Duties |
Work directly with library's Makerspace in supporting educational activities, including syllabus and curricular integration with semester-long, for-credit classes and individual student academic or personal projects. Providing technical support to students, researchers, and faculty to support student learning and success. Work with members of the Makerspace team to provide relevant programming to students. Supervise the work of student workers to support peer-based specialized learning opportunities. |

Design, capture, and share analytics, evaluations, and surveys to provide data-driven, needs-based programs, services, and resources. Ensure that people using specialized equipment are trained in the safe and effective use of these resources, and track it. Manage and improve device, space, training/workshop, and appointment bookings schemes. |
