SR SECURITIES SYSTEMS BUSINESS ANALYST
The Senior Systems Business Analyst is responsible for overseeing the technical operations of the Comerica Securities business unit. This unit has our broker dealer, which includes the Investment Banking and Debt & Equity Capital Markets business lines.
The individual in this role is responsible for providing technical and project management support for the effective operation of Comerica Securities business unit, while also ensuring the business unit adheres to applicable regulations, policies and internal controls. Responsibilities include maintaining business unit data and related systems, providing technical and analytical guidance on ongoing corporate initiatives and process optimization. This individual will also be expected to lead business unit projects, which involves understanding underlying business processes; performing a detailed analysis of the scope and effort involved based on requirements provided; developing designs for projects of higher complexity; testing and implementing technical solutions as well as partnering with vendors and internal technology teams; as necessary.
The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge with effective communication and coordination skills as well as a strong risk management background. Failure of the systems could result in sanctions by FINRA and the SEC and could have significant impact on our customers as well as potential financial and/or market share loss.
Position Responsibilities:
Process Optimization


  • Lead the development and implementation of efficient operational workflows and systems that streamline processes.
  • Collaborate with the business to design and implement resulting technical solutions with consideration to the larger organization. Solutions may involve the writing of Microsoft application codes, and the linking of tables and/or data to automate manual processes and workflows.
  • Analyze processes and identify opportunities for automation and improvement.
  • Work with different departments such as Technology to ensure business unit data is effectively captured and maintained.


Technical Consulting and Support


  • Assess and remediate system and other technical issues by partnering with vendors and business unit colleagues.
  • Represent the Comerica Securities business unit while working closely with cross functional areas on technical initiatives to meet common organizational/business unit goals and objectives.
  • Manage business unit data needs including extracting data and performing data analysis and manipulation.
  • Manage vendor relationships for systems owned and serve as the main point of contact and subject matter expert.
  • Administer user access and related reviews for systems managed.


Project Management Planning & Design


  • Understand and interpret functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Map requirements into standard services solution, identify opportunities for integrating to existing or reuse technology and provide cost effective solutions for moderate to large complex projects and initiatives.
  • Work closely with business units, application teams, infrastructure areas and vendors to identify, review and evaluate solution capabilities as compared to functional requirements.
  • Review, identify and manage requirements for moderate to complex solutions and do a cost value, feasibility, and risk analysis.


Execution


  • Manage internal technology and vendor team, and track and review deliverables.
  • Execute, monitor, and control technical projects from original concept through final implementation.
  • Communicate accurate and timely project accomplishments and overall project health to stakeholders.
  • Monitor actual performance and compare it with the business unit target.


Internal Controls and Compliance


  • Assist with audits and ensure data records are compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain policies and procedures to ensure the organization meets all legal and regulatory requirements.


Risk Management


  • Ensure adherence to all government, corporate and department standards, policies, and procedures in all technical artifacts, tasks, and decisions.
  • Lead efforts to proactively identify risk gaps in CSI data management, technical and operational procedures.
  • Proactively manage project risks and risk mitigation plans.
  • Ensure all process documentation is accurate and up to date.


Position Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or 4 years of relevant experience
  • 5 years of experience in Project Management, 7 years experience preferred
  • 5 years of experience in Information Systems, 7 years experience preferred
  • 3 years of experience in Financial Services preferred

Work Best Category: Category C - Days in the office will either be designated days or will vary week to week from 2-5 days Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday. This position offers a hybrid work model that includes onsite and remote days as determined by the manager. Salary: To Be Determined Based on Individual Experience
