Security Clearance Requirement: DoD Secret

As the Avionics Systems Engineer, you will support work within NAVAIR's Airborne Strategic Command, Control and Communications Program Office, PMA-271. This position will provide support to the E-6B IPT engineers in support of development, acquisition, certification, modernization, and sustainment efforts across the PMA.

The Avionics Systems Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Participating in the research, down-selecting and coordinating the certification of avionics systems such as SATCOM, HF, VLF, UHF, and IP Line-of-Sight that support PMA-271 platforms during system/platform acquisition, sustainment, and development of future capability.
  • Developing cosite mitigation strategies, to include simultaneous operations (SIMOP) strategies for various communication bands.
  • Supporting PMA-271 platform avionics non-recurring engineering (NRE) efforts.
  • Reviewing and/or developing requirement definitions, analysis, verifications, certifications, and architecture designs.
  • Developing POA&M for certification of avionics systems such as HF, COMSEC, and SATCOM.
  • Coordinating and managing certification efforts for avionics systems supporting the missions within PMA-271.
  • Reviewing and monitoring the development of relevant engineering documentation and artifacts.
  • Participating in or assisting in relevant Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events and PMRs.
  • Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detailed trade studies to translate customer requirements into solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule cost, and exportability constraints.
  • Presenting necessary information to stakeholders within the NAVAIR program office environment.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, or at least 5 years of experience working in NAVAIR Systems Engineering within a NAVAIR PMA.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience taking new or modification to existing mission avionics systems from RFP to development contract award through EDRAP to full Flight Clearance integration and Production Contract
  • Experience working within the NAVAIR environment creating ECP's and maturing them through Technical

  • This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Salary Range:

  • The estimated salary range for this position will be $120,000 - $160,000 annually, based on an individual's level of experience and skill set. It is our goal at ASEC to provide equitable compensation to all employees.
