POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Solutions, LLC is excited to offer an incredible opportunity for an experienced Archaeologist to join our team and support Western Area Power Administration (WAPA). The archaeologist shall perform various cultural resource tasks in compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA) and other cultural resource related laws and regulations, including Department of Energy and WAPA policies and orders.

The Archaeologist will:




  • Conduct background research and field surveys (including the identification, documentation, analysis, and evaluation of cultural resources) in accordance with applicable protocols.
  • Analyze and compile data gathered during field surveys into reports, identifying the impacts of an undertaking on cultural resources and, if necessary, recommending any mitigation required to resolve adverse effects to historic properties.
  • Perform cultural resource monitoring and compile data into monitoring reports.
  • Collect, analyze, and manage cultural resources related to Geographic Information System (GIS) data and submit data for entry into WAPA GIS database.
  • Assist with the preparation of statements of work used in requests for proposals to contractors for cultural resource-related services.
  • Review contractor reports (survey and monitoring) and related documents for quality assurance.
  • Assist in the coordination with various State and Federal agencies, Native American tribes, certified local governments, and potential consulting parties in the NHPA Section 106 process.
  • Organize and manage cultural resource related files.
  • Assist in the preparation and review (quality assurance) of National Environmental Policy.
  • Familiar with Act of 1969 (NEPA) documents.
  • Update and manage RMR's Microsoft SharePoint-based project tracking database.
  • Assist in reviewing construction specifications to ensure necessary cultural resource related requirements are incorporated.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting cultural resource training to RMR staff and Contractor employees. Assist RMR in coordination and conduct public meetings, meetings with Federal and State agencies, and identified stakeholders as part of the NEPA process.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Requirements:




  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years cumulative experience in cultural resource management.
  • Experienced in professional level technical writing and GIS data collection and management.
