PROJECT COORDINATOR - SENIORS

Department of Family and Support Services

Number of Positions: 1

(additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $73,140.00/Year

This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

The Project Coordinator manages components of projects, programs, or initiatives within the Seniors Division. Projects may include new program development and implementation, social service system change, and system change initiatives that require cross-agency/ cross-partner collaboration. The position oversees a portfolio of seniors programs that deliver services to vulnerable populations, monitors grant funding and program budgets, and reports performance outcomes. The Project Coordinator also supports policy and planning by researching and staying abreast of best practices and may serve as division representative in collaborative projects lead by other partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Oversees contracted agency operations including case management reviews to ensure program goals and objectives are met
  • Develops and implements operating policies and procedures for contracted agencies to ensure adherence to city, state and federal guidelines
  • Develops, monitors, and supports contracted agency work plans, performance assessment and delivery of social service supports to older adults.
  • Provides technical assistance and direction to contracted agencies and other program partners in administering senior services programs
  • Convenes, coordinates, and facilitates meetings and other communications with contracted agencies and other partners, as needed to resolve operational issues, share best practices, and improve program performance
  • Coordinates, develops and implements specific projects or programs for senior services division across programming areas.
  • Performs narrative and statistical reports including data review and reconciling data collected to ensure consistency in reporting
  • Monitors and identifies program expenditure trends and forecasts projections.
  • Handles complex data projects with time sensitive deadlines including identifying data sources, data gaps and evidenced based collection methods in support of achieving goals and objectives.
  • Conducts and documents site visits to monitor site operation and compliance to policies and procedures.


Performs other duties and fulfills additional responsibilities as needed

Shift: Monday-Friday

Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Social Sciences, Planning or a related field, plus three years of experience in program administration or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

Selection Criteria

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the interview will be selected

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:



  • Previous experience developing and monitoring large scale programs
  • Previous experience with budgeting and financial management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Previous experience analyzing statistical reports on program performance data
  • Previous experience organizing, formatting and analyzing large data sets
  • Previous experience managing Human and Social Services programs with an emphasis on Senior Services or the aging population.
  • Previous experience preparing written requests for proposals and formatting them to specific guidelines
  • Previous experience with senior services programming and social service programming for vulnerable populations
