Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax and Compliance Accountant to join our finance team to oversee all aspects of our organization's tax and compliance functions. The successful candidate will lead the information gathering process to complete income tax returns, sales & use tax returns, license renewals and administer tax software. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate tax filings, audits, and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, an understanding of tax processes and terminology, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the collection and organization of financial data required for tax filings.
  • Primary contact for outside tax advisor requests and questions.
  • Review tax returns and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and file sales & use tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Administer and maintain the internal tax software.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of tax returns to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather necessary financial information.
  • Assist in tax planning and strategy development to optimize tax liabilities.
  • Respond to tax-related inquiries and provide support during audits.
  • Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation.
  • Support the Controller in various tax-related projects and initiatives.


Position Requirements

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • 10 years of experience preferred
  • Experience with Avalara tax software preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities



  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to deliver strong results and manage tight deadlines


  • Advanced organization and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain financial data to non-finance partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Valid driver's license



Travel Requirements



  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
