Job Summary:
The Scientist will work within the South Laboratory, directed by Dr. Andrew South. The South Lab is focused on advancing knowledge and understanding about squamous cell carcinoma development and progression, with a particular focus on the tumor microenvironment and its' influence on tumor initiation and progression. The purpose of this position will be to help execute the research projects being developed in the South lab and will make significant contributions to the design, planning, execution, and analysis of experiments. Research projects involve a variety of methods, including western blot, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, cell culture, single cell RNA seq, and others. The Scientist will collaborate with members of the team to address critical scientific questions related to squamous cell caricnoma progression, examining components of the tumor microenvironment that influence disease development and factors that contribute to cancer progression. Additionally, the scientist will assist with writing grant proposals and manuscripts and provide mentorship to graduate students. Responsibilities: Identifies research problems, designs research methodologies, performs research, and prepares and/or presents results for presentation to professional organizations or for scholarly publications to help advance research.

Education: Required Qualifications: The position requires knowledge of and skills in standard molecular and cell biology techniques, such as RT-PCR, flow cytometry, and western blotting. It also requires skills/abilities in cell and tissue culture. At least three years of postdoctoral training in research in Cell Biology is required. Work Type: Full Time: 100% Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Additional Information: University sponsorship is not available for this position, including transfers of sponsorship.
