Responsibilities

  • Builds positive relationships, inspires others to perform at a higher level, prepares career development plans and retains an accountable workforce.
  • Coaches and counsels' staff and administers appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner.
  • Leads the planning and implementation of projects, including ensuring appropriate resources, budget planning, planning, and scheduling project timelines, providing direction and support to project team, implementing, and managing project, and evaluating and reporting of project results.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities and ensures appropriate Lean tools (i.e., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured.
  • Participates in key business process improvement initiatives.
  • Provides input into department/company budgeting process, including revising change/fee schedule annual for Executive/Board approval.
  • Provides oversight of billing/AR department through supervisory staff, focusing on timely billing and collection from patients, insurance companies, and other payors. Reviews accuracy of billing and A/R. Ensures prompt and efficient provider enrollment/credentialing. Ensures quality control of billing/AR and adherence to processes, procedures, and regulations. Ensures all regulatory standards are met or exceeded. Reviews and provides A/R and billing reports to management and leadership on a timely basis.
  • Provides oversight of coding department through supervisory staff. Ensures quality control of coding and adherence to coding processes, procedures, and regulations. Ensures all regulatory standards are met or exceeded.
  • Provides/ensures staff receive all new hire and annual trainings on time.
  • Supervise execution of coding and billing compliance elements; creates strategic plans for continuous improvement of compliance programs; advises internal management/business partners on the implementation or operation of compliance programs.
  • Supervises assigned team, including hiring, providing performance management, training, scheduling, and corrective discipline (including termination) as needed. Maximizes productivity from subordinates through an effective, supportive management style.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or closely related field required.
  • Certification in medical coding preferred (CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, AHIMA, or AAPC).
  • 3 years of supervisory and managerial experience.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare revenue cycle, with specific experience in Coding, Billing, and Compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in payer contracting, reimbursement, coding & compliance, and clinical operations required.
  • Demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of, project management processes, procedures, and best practices; experience in strategic planning and change management.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems and in-depth knowledge and understanding of system documentation and coding processes.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques, including performance management and employee development.
  • Strong skills in computer applications and software, especially MS Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of health care compliance as related to revenue cycle, including federal, state, and local regulations/laws.
  • Thorough knowledge of revenue cycle processes, procedures, and best practices.

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
