Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Website Development Manager for the University Brand, Mktg, & Creative Services department. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Brand and Marketing.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Handles technical development and maintenance oversight for the Rutgers.edu website, which is the central university-wide website.
  • Oversees and contributes to the technical development and site integrity to deliver an effective, user friendly website for Rutgers.
  • Oversees the resources and processes that support the technical development and maintenance of the Rutgers Core Component Library (RCCL) platform.
  • Leads or contributes to different types of technical projects, including Drupal migrations in addition to other Drupal related development tasks.
  • Contributes to technical documentation when requested and ensures all code changes and updates are properly documented according to the unit's governance processes.
  • Develops standards, recommends and creates processes, and supports related documentation.
  • Sets schedules for new projects, ensuring the quality and timeliness of technical deliverables and projects related to websites and web-based applications that UCM oversees.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated technical experience maintaining and updating Drupal websites.
  • Proficiency in PHP architecture and implementation of dynamic functionality for web-based solutions especially in the context of the Drupal CMS framework.
  • Proficient in JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS (SASS).
  • Proficient in analysis, maintenance, and extendibility of CMS framework.
  • Working knowledge of PHP and Twig coding languages.
  • Experience using code version control, such as Git and GitLab.
  • Ability to design and develop custom Drupal solutions including modules, templates, and themes.
  • Demonstrated experience in full-stack website development.
  • Excellent project management skills - with proven track record in digital communications.
  • Thorough knowledge of current web innovations, technologies and best practices in web design, usability and accessibility, web application security concepts, and web services (XML and XLST).
  • Experience with navigation and content for responsive sites (for mobile users) and with requirements of accessibility compliance.
  • Must be well versed in the integration of suitable graphic and video formats for use on the web.
  • Must have a user-experience mindset and be able to think from a consumer's point of view.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends and translate metrics into reports and executable product changes.
  • Strong attention to detail is required in concert with the ability to identify and implement big picture ideas.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience supporting front-end website design and development, website UX, application design/UX, and content management system configuration/development.
* Experience includes creating web strategy, integrating complex systems utilizing web services, building or designing solutions for web-based technology, working with cross functional teams, and leading large scale implementations projects.
* At least 3 years of experience producing and/or managing development of platforms and applications used for digital communications.
* Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as React, jQuery, Vue.js, or Node.js.
* Experience working on a scrum website development team/project, utilizing agile methodology.
* Familiarity with Pattern Lab, Storybook, and Drupal Single Directory Components ( SDC).
* Familiarity with WordPress CMS, ability to apply core and plugin updates, and install new plugins.
* Experience managing staff.
* Working knowledge of Google Analytics and other analytics platforms.
Equipment Utilized

  • Microsoft Office software (Word and PowerPoint).

  • HTML.
  • Drupal content management system.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be willing to use a personal vehicle for business purposes.
  • May be required work during early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
  • May be required to work from home or other off-site locations.
  • May require use of personal (own) computer equipment when working remotely.
