Position Overview:
The Department of Fashion & Design within the College of Entertainment and the Arts (CEA) at Lipscomb University invites applications for an Assistant Professor position, starting in August 2025. We seek a dynamic, innovative, and dedicated educator with a passion for both teaching and advancing the discipline. The ideal candidate will contribute to a collaborative academic environment by teaching a diverse range of Fashion design and construction courses while fostering interdisciplinary engagement and industry partnerships. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our Fashion program through curriculum development, mentoring, and creative research.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Teach fashion courses across various levels.
  • Develop, implement, and assess course content to align with industry standards.
  • Engage in research and professional development to stay current in the field.
  • Advise and mentor students in academic and career planning.
  • Participate in departmental planning and curriculum development.


Additional Responsibilities May Include:



  • Contribute to the culture and growth of the department.
  • Attend and participate in weekly departmental meetings.
  • Plan and host departmental events, both social and educational.
  • Support and direct key fashion initiatives, including:

    • Spring Fashion Show
    • Fashion Week
    • Fashion Gala
    • 1891 Fashion Truck
    • Summer Fashion Academy


  • Support and contribute to departmental social media presence.
  • Lead and organize study abroad experiences (New York, Italy, local and regional trips).
  • Conduct departmental tours and assist with student recruitment efforts.
  • Assist in marketing and outreach for the program.
  • Engage in donor relations and fundraising efforts.
  • Maintain fashion lab areas and equipment.
  • Attend and support CEA and School of Art & Design events.


Qualifications:



  • A degree in Fashion, Design, Merchandising, or a related field (Master's or equivalent industry experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and/or industry experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to engage students in experiential learning and industry collaboration.
  • Passion for mentoring students and supporting their creative and professional growth.
