University Facility Services is seeking diverse career minded candidates to apply for our open General Maintenance Mechanic positions. The qualified candidate will be a good communicator and team player with a strong background in building maintenance. We are looking for individuals with a strong understanding of the customer service skills needed in this industry, to repair and maintain machinery, plumbing, physical structure and electrical wiring and fixtures. The selected candidate must be flexible and adaptable as the environment is evolving and fast-paced. Work shift to include swing shift, graveyard shift, some weekends and holidays. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Provides general maintenance and repair work for
heating/cooling and ventilation equipment such as exhaust fans, air handlers, cooling and heating coils, air filters, evaporative coolers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, electric motors, bearings, and all types of pumps. - Provide preventive maintenance activities,
diagnoses malfunctions of mechanical equipment. - Maintains records of repairs and equipment
requiring future service. - Use power and hand tools to preform repairs and
maintenance work. - Requires working on roofs, in attics, on ladders
in extreme temperatures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of repair, maintenance
and installation techniques. - Demonstrated knowledge or reading and
understanding schematics.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required. In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Apprenticeship program, technical training experience required.
- Minimum of 3
years of relevant experience required. - Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience in commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
- Experience with large air handling equipment.
- Experience with pumps of all types.
- Experience with air compressors and vacuum pumps.
