A Writer Editor III is an experienced professional responsible for creating, editing, and refining a wide range of written content, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with organizational goals. This role involves conducting research, developing content strategies, and ensuring that all materials adhere to editorial standards and style guides.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Writer/Editor III: $60,000 to $90,000
  • Pay commensurate with experience.
  • Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Writer Editor III Responsibilities Include:

  • Write, edit, and proofread a variety of content, including articles, reports, marketing materials, press releases, blogs, and social media posts, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency in messaging.
  • Review and edit content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, and tone, ensuring all materials align with the organization's voice, brand guidelines, and editorial standards.
  • Ensure that content is free of errors and formatted according to established style guides.
  • Conduct research to gather information, verify facts, and ensure content is accurate and relevant.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and target audience preferences to produce engaging content.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as marketing, communications, and design teams, to develop content that supports organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and depth of content.
  • Assist in developing content strategies that align with company goals, brand identity, and target audience needs.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions for new content ideas, formats, and channels.
  • Manage multiple writing and editing projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and content is delivered on time.
  • Oversee the editing and review process, managing input from various stakeholders to finalize drafts.
  • Ensure all content adheres to internal standards and guidelines, maintaining consistency across all written materials in terms of style, voice, and quality.
  • Review drafts and provide constructive feedback to junior writers and editors, helping them improve their work and meet editorial standards.
  • Communicate with clients or internal stakeholders to clarify content requirements and expectations.
  • Incorporate feedback into content revisions to ensure client or department satisfaction.
  • Write content optimized for SEO, ensuring articles and online materials are discoverable and engaging for online audiences.
  • Incorporate relevant keywords, meta tags, and other SEO practices into written content to enhance search engine ranking.
  • These responsibilities emphasize a Writer/Editor III's role in content creation, collaboration, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality across all written materials.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Writer Editor III Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • At least 4 years of minimum experience and is required to have at least a minimum education of high school or equivalent as well as technical experience and appropriate licensing.
  • Successful completion of Defense Information School basic journalism or communications programs acceptable in lieu of bachelor's degree.
  • A Level III labor category performs required functions independently and has the ability to make required decisions.
  • Expertise in writing clear, concise, and engaging content across a variety of formats (articles, reports, blogs, etc.).
  • Strong editing abilities to ensure grammatical accuracy, proper punctuation, sentence structure, and adherence to style guides.
  • Ability to conduct thorough research to ensure the accuracy and depth of content.
  • Proficient in gathering and synthesizing information from reliable sources to create well-informed, authoritative content.
  • Experience in developing content strategies that align with organizational goals and target audience needs.
  • Ability to plan and create content that supports marketing, branding, and communications initiatives.
  • Proficient in SEO best practices, including keyword research, on-page SEO, and content optimization for search engines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, ensuring content is delivered on time and to specification.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks and organizing workflows effectively to meet production schedules.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
