Position description

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of California Irvine is seeking an in-residence basic scientist to join the department of Otolaryngology-HNS. Responsibilities include leading the Department's hair cell regeneration research agenda and infrastructure, including grant submissions, mentorship to graduate and post-graduate students/residents. The research faculty will help grow our federally funded research program, consistent with the department and university missions.

Candidates should have a strong background in, and a focus on, gene therapy and inner ear therapeutics. As this is a clinical department, the candidate's scientific program and scope should have a clear potential impact to advance the understanding and treatment of diseases and disorders related to head and neck.

This is a research-focused position, along with the teaching and service expected of senate faculty.

A significant record of academic accomplishment and the potential to attract independent research funding (e.g., NIH-funded career development grants) are important considerations for this position. In this position, the applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty and other departments throughout the university to advance multi-disciplinary approaches.
