Summary:

Responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing all tasks that relate to a specific project. Confers with project managers, team managers, and SMEs to understand the scope of a project. Meets with the project team, ensuring that each team member understands their responsibilities and accountabilities. The assistant project manager relays information between the project {owner} and {other parties}. Any paperwork required is their responsibility.

The IT Assistant Project Manager will focus on Support Department projects and liaise with the PMO, IT, and all other departments as part of the complete project portfolio. Common responsibilities for this role include flexibility to work with and understand multiple department roles and procedures, task identification and management, testing and training development, implementation planning and execution, project and resource management working with other Project Managers, user communications, documentation of project meeting tasks, action items, and timelines, creation of technical documentation for user support, and executive summary updates.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Defines project tasks and resource requirements
  • Assembles and coordinates project staff
  • Plans and schedules project timelines
  • Tracks project deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Provides direction and support to project team
  • Constantly monitors and reports on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • Presents reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Implements and manages project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Projects evaluations and assessment of results
  • Documents project meeting information including tasks, action items, and timelines
  • Creates user documentation and assists with user training where required
  • Any other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum 2 years of project management experience and/or equivalent
  • Demonstrated project management skills including project initiation, scoping, resourcing, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
  • Strong leadership skills while still exhibiting strong team player qualities
  • Proven experience in people and time management
  • Proven experience in risk management and change management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
  • Outstanding planning, organization, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding management and leadership qualities
  • Proven ability to effectively coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Creative and business focused clear thinker with good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and be a strong, proactive team player
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor
  • Ability to quickly respond to management and end user requests
  • Ability to understand corporate culture and style guidelines to ensure appropriate web design and architecture
