Assists the Custodial Supervisor with day-to-day operations and limited duties during supervisor absence. Perform a variety of skilled labor duties associated with custodial work throughout county facilities. Work is of a changing nature and initiative must be used to be able to handle different situations as necessary. ** The typical work shift for this position will be 4:00pm - 12:30am Monday through Friday **

Duties
-
- Assists Custodial Supervisor with day-to-day operations to include scheduling work orders, coordinating team, coordinating vendors and perform inspections. Performs various administrative tasks during absence of Supervisor.
- Assists with the training and onboarding of employees. Assesses team skill level and knowledge to determine best utilization of staff. Assists in ensuring proper work methods, and safe work practices and procedures are being followed.
- Sets example for team by conducting facility assessments to identify facility custodial issues, entering preventative maintenance work orders, and maintain professional demeanor when interacting with leadership, team, vendors and building tenants, moving furniture and equipment in the line of performing normal custodian functions, preparing and monitoring rooms for conferences and meetings and securing afterwards (may include some weekend work), lock and un-lock buildings at the start and end of each business day.
- Performs leadership duties as directed by the Custodian Supervisor to include scheduling work crews and locations; purchasing supplies and approving invoices; inspecting the quality of work of units/crews and correcting deficiencies as needed; reports and makes recommendations for performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Performs a variety of duties involving the maintaining and cleaning of Arapahoe County facilities. Essential functions include but are not limited to: Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning and sanitizing restroom facilities and fixtures, replenishing restroom supplies, dusting and polishing furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment, emptying, cleaning and sanitizing centralized waste receptacles and removing debris, assisting with outside trash bins and debris, and washing windows, mirrors and walls.
- Responds to on-site inquiries from the building occupants and staff and help resolve custodial service requests.
- Must have ability to organize and prioritize tasks. Ability to adapt to changing job priorities and conditions.

- Ability to effectively communicate in English language, both verbally and in writing and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to effectively communicate with Commissioners, Directors, FFM Leadership, team members, tenants and vendors.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform physical tasks as assigned.
- Knowledge and ability to follow safety rules, regulations and practices, including the ability to read at a standard high school level, enabling comprehension of warning labels and written instructions.
- Familiarity and knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices and ability to operate mechanized cleaning equipment.

Requirements

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- One (1) year prior experience in custodial field performing duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing and general cleaning.
- Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- One (1) + year experience as a supervisor or lead.
- Prior experience training staff.

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), background check, physical capabilities examination, and drug screen.
- Possession of a valid Class "R" Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
- Will require fingerprinting and a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check.
Post-Employment Requirements:
- Successful completion of bi-annual Colorado Justice Information System (CJIS) training.
- Position is deemed essential, and incumbents must be available for winter storm and other emergency events including evenings, holidays and weekends.
- Ability to work nights (primary work schedule) and may be required to work some weekends based on business needs.
- Work locations and facilities are subject to change based on business needs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is primarily performed indoors and requires exposure to dust, fumes and chemical cleaners.
- Specific assignments may require occasional outdoor work.
- ALL FFM staff are considered "essential personnel" and may be required to report to on-site in the event of a weather event or emergency.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.
- Spends 10% of the time sitting and 90% of the time either upright or walking.
- Frequently lifts, carries up to 60 lbs.
- Frequently uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to push/pull more than 50 lbs.
- Frequently climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing work duties.
- Reliable verbal and listening skills and ability to communicate through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar, and in public meetings and personal interactions.
- Constantly uses of hand/eye coordination enabling the use of custodial equipment.
- Ability to use computer or other work-related equipment.
