Mott MacDonald is seeking professionals to join the New York team. We are looking for a versatile engineering geologist to serve in our tunnels resource group with a focus on underground design and engineering geology for linear infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Support the delivery of our existing portfolio of projects in the U.S. and Canada.
• Performing detailed geological desk study research through review of geological maps, mining records, well logs, construction records and other resources.
• Staffing geotechnical investigation programs- performing detailed soil and rock logging for engineering purposes.
• Performing engineering geological field work, including outcrop mapping, hazard mapping, slope stability review and rock discontinuity orientation measurements.
• Assisting with the development of detailed 3D and 4D geological ground models, and working closely with design teams to integrate BIM design items into geological context.
• Contribution to detailed slope stability and other engineering geological analysis.
• Contribution to detailed analyses for our projects involving tunnels and underground structures
• Contribution to the production of design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings.
• Writing reports for submission to clients, including design-related technical memoranda.
• Actively participating in project, client and team meetings.
• Utilizing technology with a 'digital by default' approach.

Candidate Specification

Mott MacDonald's experience in infrastructure projects dates to the early 1900s. Our team of professionals provides innovative engineering solutions for North American infrastructure with unprecedented success. We're looking for an Engineering Geologistto join our team to continue this and invite applications from candidates with.

• Bachelors in geology, civil or geotechnical engineering is required and a Masters in engineering geology is preferred.
• EIT and or FG preferred. The goal is to obtain PE or PG license when minimum requirements are achieved.
• 1+years of experience in relevant internships, engineering consultancy or construction.
• Knowledge of the use of geotechnical software, this may include Plaxis, GeoStudio, Slide, Rocscience, Leapfrog Works or geotechnical data management (GINT/Holebase/Openground). A working knowledge of BIM tools (Bentley/Autodesk) would also be advantageous.
• Experience in geotechnical engineering design, and ground characterization for soil and rock.
• Interest in underground design and construction for the transport, water/waste water, and energy sectors. Multidisciplinary working experience would also be advantageous.
• Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
• Good verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
• Good written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing

Salary Range: $74,000 - $84,000
