Graduate Environmental Scientist - 2025

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Graduate Environmental Scientist to join our environmental team. In this position you will work closely with project team members to assist in the collection, design, creation and maintenance of environmental and geospatial data, as relevant to permitting applications, site assessments, data analysis, and design information integration.

Responsibilities:



  • Produce spatial and non-spatial data while ensuring technical accuracy and logical consistency in data processing and outputs.
  • Research permitting requirements in the federal state and local arena with regard to NEPA analysis reporting , EIS, EA and CE development and analysis, development of ESCPs, SWPPPS, SPCCs and various other report like documents supporting various D/B projects across water, transport, coastal and infrastructure projects.
  • Produce high-quality products by employing physical science principles, industry standards, digital and custom solutions.
  • Identify and solve technical problems under supervision.
  • Conduct field data collection using GPS and mobile technologies data transfer and analysis for incorporation into design and permitting documents.
  • Daily activities include:

    • Utility and municipal data entry and corrections
    • Conducting GIS analysis
    • Generating GIS deliverables
    • Supporting customer GIS needs
    • Conduct field data collection
    • Support asset management activities




Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Chemical Engineeringor related field.
  • Demonstrable competence with: ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Collector, Survey 123, ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Suite, GPS technologies
  • Experience or education related to: ArcGIS Enterprise, AutoCAD, Microstation and basic programming/scripting using Python, Javascript and HTML 5 are beneficial.
  • Must be very well organized, detail oriented, and possess strong problem-solving abilities.
