Position Description

PALA Interstate LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Estimator & Planner to join our growing team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to challenging and rewarding projects while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Job Summary:

The Civil Estimator & Planner will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for a variety of civil construction projects. This includes analyzing project plans and specifications, determining material quantities, labor requirements, and equipment needs, and developing detailed cost proposals. The role also involves project planning, including developing project schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate and detailed cost estimates for Industrial civil construction projects, including:
  • Reviewing project plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Performing quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Researching and analyzing current market pricing for materials and labor.
  • Preparing detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure accurate and complete estimates.
  • Develop project schedules using project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Monitor project progress and update schedules as needed.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present cost reports and project updates to management.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of estimates, plans, and other project documents.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist with the bidding process, including preparing bid documents and proposals.
  • Participate in project post-bid reviews and analysis.
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of [3-5] years of experience in civil construction estimating and planning.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in quantity takeoff software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam).
  • Experience with project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented and highly accurate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with industrial civil construction relevant to the company.
