Position Title Night Staff Residential Security Supervisor
About this Opportunity
This position works to provide a secure living environment for people living in university residential areas, and works with student night staff workers to enforce guest and other policies related to residence hall functions.

Salary Grade 11
Wages Begin At 18.45

Hrs/Week 40
Pre-Employment Screening Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.
Position Function
Provide a secure environment for people living in university residential areas;
Provide supervision for part-time night security staff specialists. Assist in supervision of night student staff. Provide assistance with night staff employee training and manuals. Support the AD for Care and Conduct in case management follow-up and reporting.
Minimum Education
Associates degree or equivalent.
Minimum Experience
At least one year of experience in a service role, security role, or role that provides customer service/support to front-line individuals, supervisory experience.
Minimum Other
Authorization to work in the US Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Education
Additional education in a security related field.
Preferred Experience
At least one year of supervisory experience, experience working with college students a plus. Familiarity with card access, fire or security systems, and/or general facilities knowledge or experience a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities


Ranking 1
Job Duty
Provide a secure living environment for people living in university residential areas. Work with part-time night staff security specialists and student night staff who are checking in residents and guests during the overnight hours. This includes ensuring student staff arrive on time for their shift, are properly following night security protocols, and responding to student/part-time staff reports questions and concerns.

Job Duty
Support the night shift team in conducting regular fire extinguisher checks, camera system checks, and floor call boxes. Reporting any outstanding issues to the appropriate team members for resolution. Work with the team to conduct regular, year-round door checks and building walk-throughs. Assist in providing breaks to team members as needed.

Job Duty
Respond to and report campus crises through the appropriate channels; includes incidents within residence buildings, criminal activity. Medical emergencies and facility/maintenance issues.

Act as liaison with University Police, contacting and assisting them as the need arises to ensure security in residential areas, including but not limited to notifying them of potential or actual criminal situations.

Assign and review work; coach, orient and train staff, complete performance appraisals for part-time night staff security specialists and make recommendations including but not limited to interviewing and selection and discipline.

Prepare operational policies and procedures concerning residence security, night staff operations and facilities. This includes regular review and updating of all manuals related to residence hall night staff operations.

Provide regular night-shift station maintenance including stocking space supplies, maintaining equipment in working order, updating and discording any rosters, and other space organization/maintenance procedures.

Provide information and reports to various housing and university officials concerning campus safety, including but not limited to reports of activities, work orders for facilities concerns,

Provide guidance to students by assisting student staff with work situations, assist residents with information regarding university security policies as well as personal safety issues.

Maintain compliance with FCC regulations regarding use of radio units.

Assist the Assistant Director of Care and Conduct in any necessary reporting, documentation, or situation investigation. Assist with incident follow-up such as reviewing camera footage, getting reports from student night assistants and other assistance as needed.
