This is a six-week, on-site, paid learning immersion experience for students who are interested in pursuing a career technical pathway and who have successfully completed career technical education (CTE) coursework in applied technology, trades, crafts, manufacturing, mechanics or operations programs. These positions will report to INL's STEM Education Manager, with support from work-based learning coordinators and mentors from various operational disciplines and departments around the laboratory. The placements will be coordinated with regional CTE instructors and college and career advisors to align previous coursework and experience of the student to the work-based learning experience. High school internship positions are posted in a variety of broad subject areas, and applicants will be paired with individual mentors and projects within those fields. Students are encouraged to apply for positions in each of the broad subject matters that interests them. Students applying for positions in the CTE track can expect to receive experience working in the trades, crafts, manufacturing, operations, and similar fields. This six-week, full-time immersion program begins in June. It focuses on real-world application of learning and will include: * One week of employee orientation, onboarding, and employability skills. * Four weeks of rotations at various INL facilities working with mentors and hiring managers * One week working on a culminating project and presentation.
