Description

We are hiring a Quality/Lean Engineer to enhance the customer experience by providing solutions to chronic complex issues, and supporting Steelcase's Lean and Quality objectives

Who You Are:

As a Quality Lean Engineer, you will enhance the customer experience by providing solutions to chronic complex issues, supporting Steelcase Quality objectives, and serving as the customer advocate in the total Supply Chain. You will take the lead role in PD&L quality, designing, installing, and evaluating quality assurance systems, procedures, and statistical techniques; designing or specifying inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment. You will also provide distribution quality engineering leadership, lead cross-functional projects, and support Steelcase Lean Six Sigma objectives. The responsibilities of this position are spread across Steelcase Global sites and distribution centers in NA.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of strong understanding of quality engineering principles, practices, standards, and procedures in a Distribution Center Setting
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15-20% of the time.
  • Demonstrated ability to make significant decisions to improve the customer experience.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Steelcase will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface with multiple functions within the company
  • Project Management and product testing requirements, product development cycle, and special processes.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading cross-functional problem-solving projects using Q10 methodology.
  • Strong understanding of process interfaces within order fulfillment.
  • Experience working with software including Smartsheet, Windchill, Minitab, MS Excel, MS Office, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Minimum (3-5 years) of experience in developing technical solutions for complex problems.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Enhance customer experience by identifying and resolving chronic complex issues.
  • Lead quality efforts in product design and development, including installing and evaluating quality assurance systems, procedures, and statistical techniques.
  • Design inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment to ensure product quality.
  • Provide distribution quality engineering expertise, leading cross-functional projects to support Steelcase Lean Six Sigma objectives.
  • Mentor and manage less experienced engineers and technicians, while managing tactical LEAN Sigma projects.
