The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Division of Infectious Diseases clinical research unit is seeking motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant with strong communication skills to support research activities related to HIV testing and HIV education in the dental setting.

The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to work closely with investigators and clinicians from Infectious Disease, Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center, and Dentistry to evaluate the acceptability and feasibility of a new initiative to provide HIV prevention services and linkage to HIV prevention and care at multiple dental sites in the NYP system. The Research Assistant must feel comfortable working independently as well as with others in a clinical research setting.

The Research Assistant will work under the general supervision of the principal investigator and project director. Assignments are routine, but may include duties of a more complicated nature. This position relies on grant funding.

Responsibilities



  • Assist with participant recruitment and screening procedures including participant education about the study, administering quantitative questionnaires, and collecting data in accordance with study protocols.
  • Conduct qualitative interviews to eligible patients and providers.
  • Ensure that data and study samples are collected, transported, and stored in accordance with study protocols.
  • Assist with analysis, interpretation, and presentation of collected data.
  • Conduct the informed consent procedures and obtain a signed informed consent prior to initiating study-related procedures.
  • Interact with study participants using English and Spanish as applicable.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience
  • Strong decision-making skills and independent problem solving skills
  • Orientation to detail with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality
  • Ability to interact with patients and staff at all levels
  • Computer skills and strong communication skills


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in statistics, epidemiology, health behavior, or related field
  • Knowledge of HIV/ AIDS and sexually transmitted infections
  • Experience with ethical conduct of human subjects research
  • Experience collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
  • Experience using online data collection tools (REDCap)
  • Spanish language skills


Other Requirements



  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
  • Participation in the medical surveillance program


    • Contact with patients and/or research subjects


  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
