Job Summary: Route export shipments utilizing knowledge of best carrier selection - to include daily freight quoting, preparing documentation, classifying HTS & COO, and following customer instructions. Quickly and effectively solve problems and negotiate solutions for delayed, short or damaged deliveries. Audit freight bills and maintain historical files. Ensure compliance on all import shipments.

Primary Duties:



  1. Manage export quote program through Manual Quote Requests
  2. Maintain flow of orders from packing to shipping stage by communicating with sales support, International Sales, and Shipping Departments to ensure timely orders
  3. Prepare export documentation per country requirements
  4. Verify Freight Invoices, approve for payment and file
  5. Oversee import transactions to ensure compliance with US Customs regulations, including HTS, valuation, binding rulings, country of origin, record keeping and assists


Key Responsibilities:



  • Group orders by consolidation and plan for shipment date
  • Prepare freight quote for sales by collecting packaging specifics and negotiating rates with carriers
  • After confirming MOT, verify freight rate or gather new quote
  • Arrange shipments with third party carriers and from vendor locations
  • Prepare all international documents and load into database for customer access via Shop Inpro website
  • Provide customer service on damaged or lost shipments
  • Audit freight bills for carrier accuracy and upload to freight payment website
  • Knowledge of country of origin and HTS code requirements
  • Coordinate import shipments while complying with CBP requirements
  • Knowledge of Hazmat shipments


Job Relationship:



  • Works directly with Freight Forwarders, Customer Care, Product Management, Shipping and International Sales on all aspects of all exports and imports
  • Reports directly to Logistics Manager


Job Specifications:



  • Excellent verbal & written communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong organization/time management skills and the ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of shipping/transportation industry
  • Proficient in Word & Excel
  • Associate Degree and/or at least 3 years of trade compliance experience with an importer/exporter, distributor, manufacturer, or Customs House Broker recommended
  • Knowledge of Hazmat shipments
  • Maintain 4 CEU's per year


Authority:



  • Authority to stop production for non-conforming quality or safety compliance
  • To support company policies and procedures
  • Report non-conforming material and safety non-compliance to management
  • Make decisions to accept or reject according to quality specifications
  • Make logical decisions based on experience and/or company policy
