Overview

Con Edison Supply Chain is seeking a people-, detail-, and results-oriented Procurement Specialist to join its Supply Chain Indirect Procurement Team. The team consists of multiple verticals that provide enterprise-wide procurement of indirect services, plus all standalone purchases of materials, services, and equipment under $100,000. The verticals are comprised of a combination of Senior Procurement Specialists, Procurement Specialists, and Business Associates all reporting to a Senior Procurement Lead. The Procurement Specialist will report to a Senior Procurement Lead.The team sources, manages, renews, and optimizes a portfolio of services contracts that deliver consistent +1 Customer Experiences, process efficiencies, and measurable benefits to internal customers in Electric, Gas, Central, and Customer Operations.The Procurement Specialist will manage all aspects of procurement transactions to meet the needs of internal customer, working with multiple stakeholders, including internal customers, suppliers, the Law Department, Third-Party Risk Management, Enablement, and Sustainability & Supplier Diversity. People-, detail-, and results-orientation are equally important in this role, with focus on safety, compliance, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Safety: Ensure employee, customer, public, and site safety are always considered in procurement strategy, and contribute proactively to maintaining Companys safety-focused culture, including through purposeful field visits with team.
  • Continuity of Operations: Ensure current emergency response plans are reviewed, exercised and updated per Company requirements to support continuity of operations during various emergency scenarios. During Corporate-level emergency events, provide related expertise and support.
  • Compliance: Maintain rigorous adherence to Company policies & procedures governing procurement and develop training material and conduct training as it relates to projects as needed.
  • Problem Solving: Possess strong complex problem-solving skills and process and control improvement skills, and the ability to challenge assumptions, consider alternative perspectives, think quickly, and work independently and collaboratively in a strong team environment.
  • Data-Driven: Collect, parse, and analyze relevant datasets to drive informed decision-making at the outset of the procurement journey.
  • Commercial: Structure, document, and execute Requests for Quotations and Request for Proposals (including for competitive bid events) in Oracle.
  • Negotiations: Negotiate service level requirements, pricing, and timelines with suppliers and liaise with Law Department to negotiate terms & conditions for procurement contracts.
  • Reliability: Ensure existing contracts in portfolio are adequately funded and are renewed (competitively when possible) without disruption to service.
  • Agile: Seek and apply real-time feedback from internal customers and suppliers to adjust procurement strategies for improved procurement outcomes.
  • Cost-Conscious: Deliver cost savings for internal customers through procurement outcomes.
  • Problem-Solving: Address issues that arise with suppliers constructively to ensure continuity of business operations and compliance with policies & procedures.
  • Risk-Averse: Incorporate Third-Party Risk Management data in contract negotiations to mitigate risks and lower total cost of ownership.
  • Diversity: Increase diverse supplier spend in key procurement categories.
  • Sustainability: Seek suppliers commitment to Con Edisons sustainability principles and practices.
  • Celebrating Success: Deliver impactful presentations to senior executive leadership.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of work experience or
  • Associate's Degree and 4 years of work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience in commercial or contract negotiations, required. Required
  • Ability to analyze large complex datasets to make reasonable business decisions, required. Required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, required Required
  • Proficiency in Oracle EBS or similar enterprise resource planning application, required. Required
  • Supply Chain experience at operations level, preferred. Preferred
  • Experience using Agile, Scrum, or Rapid Results in project management or product development, preferred. Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required

Additional Physical Demands
