Position Description
Plans and directs the overall operation of a major department (with institutional oversight) and provides leadership for staff members. Meets ORP eligibility requirements. Under executive direction, performs highly varied administrative duties involving the use of independent judgment and professional skills. Responsible for all employees assigned to area.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Effectively trains, supervises and manages subordinates responsible for utilities, historical building information, and state reporting requirements to include but not limited to space use, deferred maintenance and master plans.
  • Plans and implements utilities-related cost reduction initiatives.
  • Supports and manages facility "space use" planning to achieve institutional goals and distributes workload fairly and equitably.
  • Effectively completes subordinate quarterly coaching sessions in both written and verbal form.
  • Manage financial and business requirements for various projects, energy use, and other assignments to use institutional assets effectively.
  • Completes or supervises the completion of various engineering or facility studies, reports and/or analyses to include master planning, programming and design schematics in alignment with institutional strategic objectives. This work could be used to plan or respond to facility and maintenance issues /initiatives.
  • Ensures that the overall management of projects is completed effectively and efficiently throughout the entire process, including program, budget development, design, pricing /proposal, coordination requirements, construction, inspections, and commissioning /close-out.
  • Communicates problems, challenges, concerns, solutions, and outcomes to supervisor (positive or negative) regarding assigned work and responsibilities. Practicing excellent and professional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, customers, etc., both written and verbal.
  • Responds to emergency situations and performs assigned tasks as directed by Supervisor(s). This would include work at regional campuses.
  • Exemplifies the Values-based Culture of the institution in all actions and behaviors. Maintains a professional atmosphere in the workplace and serves as an example for all subordinates.
  • Administers basic project and business-related functions utilizing institutional tools. Evaluates processes for timely, effective and efficient performance of invoicing, purchase order execution, contract execution, financial transactions, departmental budget creation and work execution.
  • Oversees and manages custodial operations to comply with institutional needs.
  • Oversees and supports institutional Furnishing and Interiors programs.
  • Develops and/or maintains processes and metrics as required, supporting the execution of team objectives and tracking processes. Distribute workload fairly and equitably.
  • Effectively completes subordinate quarterly coaching sessions in both written and verbal form.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred. Seven years progressively responsible management experience required. Education beyond bachelor's level may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
